Over the years, I have been very honoured to be given opportunities to give seminars/talks to students and teachers. Listed here are some of them.
2015
I was invited by Anderson Junior College to give a 30-minute talk to potential new AJC students. I talked about my life as an AJC student, opportunities provided to me by the college that bring me to where I am today, my achievements as well as the environment of the college. The aim of the talk was to charm graduating O Levels students to AJC. :)
2016
I was invited by National Technological University, Singapore to give a 6-hour seminar to a group of more than 50 teachers from China. The talk was conducted in Mandarin.
The talk was divided into 2 parts.
The first 3 hours were spent on
- The tuition landscape in Singapore
- My views on education
- The books that I have written and the motivation behind writing the books
- A sharing session on the interesting/unexpected things that happen to us/students
I also shared my belief in what should be the role of a tutor in the education industry.
The next 3 hours were spent on
- Singapore Math and Physics syllabi (both O Level and A Level)
- Sharing of teaching methodologies and how both sides can learn from each other
- Sample questions from the national examination and school examination
- Sample questions from the China syllabi
