After 20 plus years of receiving education in Singapore, with a short stint in the United States, I graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS) with a degree in Electrical Engineering in November 2011.
I strongly believe in the phrase "learning is a lifelong process". Although I have graduated, I have not stopped learning. I have been finding new stuff to learn, from cooking, programming, investment to even Taiji.
The best way to learn is to teach. Throughout the years, I love discussing the concepts we learned in class with my peers. As a result, I grow to love teaching and have been giving private tuition.
My Teaching Philosophy
I believe in mastering the fundamental skills of each topic, not by drilling, but by understanding the concepts. I never believe in drilling and memorising, as this will never produce thinkers. To make matter worse, this may add on unnecessary stress to the students.
Although I specialise in Mathematics and Physics, my knowledge for other fields allow me to bring in relevant real world examples to my class. Not only will this make my lessons interesting, it will also provide motivation to spur the students on, which is also part of my role as a tutor. I have a Facebook page where I post free questions and solutions. Most of the questions are A Level Math, as the page name suggests. However, I do post other levels and subjects, such as Physics and Chemistry. Students are free to ask me any question. As long as I know how to answer, I will answer. Otherwise, I will point them to some resources which I'm sure they are in a much better position than me to make full sense of.
Don't be lazy and start writing everyday! haha
